“CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story” is based off of the; phenomenal, talented, musical threesome; Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Rozanda “Chili” Thomas, Lisa “Left-eye” Lopes. These women changed the game for female performers with their nostalgic, truthful, and passionate lyrics. TLC is one of the best things to ever happen to music, they covered a wide range of genres from hip-hop, pop, soul, and r&b. This movie gives a little background information about how TLC came together and how their lives changed afterwards.
This movie combines; music, information, humor, and a little bit of heartache. The TLC members are played by; Keke Palmer as ‘Chili’, Drew Sidora as ‘T-boz’, and Lil Mama as ‘Left-Eye’. I personally think these women did a great job in the movie. The over-all movie is a great family film- actually great for any occasion and I think anyone who watches it will really enjoy it. Overall rating: 5 stars*****
“Straight Outta Compton”
“Straight Outta Compton” is based off the amazing and revolutionary group “N.W.A”, this group changed the face of rap music completely. This group rapped about the harsh reality of Compton, California. This movie was produced by: Andre Young, Tomica Wright, and Scott Bernstein. The members of N.W.A were; Ice Cube (O’Shea Jackson Sr.), Eazy E (Eric Wright), Dr.Dre (Andre Young), Dj Yella (Antoine Carraby), and MC Ren (Lorenzo Patterson). Together this group makes up a sensational rap group that influenced millions of people.
I really enjoy this movie because I feel as though it depicts struggles and stereotypes of black men and music artist in general, a lot of people assume that most black men don’t want the responsibility of a child so they choose not to be in their child lives, but in actuality some women aren’t satisfy with the product that the men is producing so they take the child which is why Dr.Dre was not apart for a majority of his daughter life. There is also a stereotype that black men—black people in general are lazy since we no longer work for free, it shows how we are harassed by the law enforcement who are meant to protect and serve the people. This movie shows the determination, strength, ambition, and talent of black people. Overall rating: 5 stars *****
